The Everett Police Department had not updated its departmental regulations in many years and chose to do so by involving input from officers. Their new departmental regulations are based on CALEA Standard 44 with some notable changes in the preamble of the document. The Cambridge Police Department had not updated its department regulations in several years and involved officers in the review of the regulations. Their new departmental regulations are based on CALEA Standard 44 and led to changes in chain of command oversight on dealing with shoplifting and other crimes, as well as the development of a first time offender diversion program.
